This gorgeous ensemble consists of a dress and jacket. The dress is in black tweed with a self belt that ties at the waist, faux pockets at the hip and cap sleeves.
The matching jacket is in a wonderfully thick velvet in bright red, which contrasts nicely with the dress. The jacket is trimmed in the same tweed as the dress and has the most interesting buttons- they are not actually attached to the jacket, but are on either end of a cord, so that the buttons, when fastened, leave a slight gap in the jacket opening.
This outfit is particularly interesting, as it has a dress in a very functional, day material- tweed- and a dressy, evening material- velvet.
This outfit was sold at Neusteter's Department store of Denver, Colorado. This store, seen in bottom picture, closed in the mid 1980's.
